The epidemic situation deteriorating quickly, France and Occitania are again subject to partial containment. But with an evolving limitation of movements. A radius of 10km is allowed around the home and without time limit. What are the tools to calculate this radius?

A year ago, during the first confinement, it was possible to go out once a day for an hour and within a radius of 1km. From April 3, new restrictions will be imposed throughout France with more flexible travel rules. Outings will be authorized within a radius of 10km around the home as the crow flies.

Another novelty and not the least for the duration of the outings is no longer constrained to one hour. It will be possible to walk as long as you need within this radius.

Since the implementation, many online tools have been set up to calculate this famous radius of freedom. Some are more practical than others. They have been categorized based on their ease of use.

The easiest to use

Covidesri, Geoconcept, CovidRadius or even Cascoronavirus are the most practical. From a computer or smartphone, all you have to do is enter your address to see it appear on a map showing the authorized movement circle.

Child’s play that does not require any manipulation. However, for use from a phone requires having approved the gps location.

As an option Covidesri, or Covidradius offer another service. Once your exit perimeter is established, it is possible to enter another address and check if it is in the authorized zone.

Those that require some handling

Again, there are several tools to define the perimeter. The one recommended by the government is Geoportail. It is based on the precision of IGN maps.

The Mappy site or the Google maps do not define the preimeter but allow to display the number of km as the crow flies from one point to another. It is this one which must not exceed ten kilometers. However, you have to get used to using it and it is easier from a computer.
On Google maps. Once the depatr address field is filled in, click on the red dot and choose “Route from this location”

Then, right click on the last proposition of the “Measure distance” menu. Then, make a click as the arrival address. A black line emerges. This indicates the distance as the crow flies between the two points.
