The number of cases affected by the English variant has now reached 73. This is what the Minister of Health told the Council of Government.

During a speech to the Council, this Thursday, April 1, the Minister noted a worrying development in the epidemiological situation over the past two weeks, particularly in the region of Casablanca-Settat, which concentrates 50% of cases registered nationally.

The positivity rate in the region is 12%, compared to 4.2% nationally. The number of cases of new variants is also on the rise, with 73 cases of the British variant detected by the Genomic Watch Committee.

Faced with this “worrying situation”, the government will continue its consultations with the national scientific committee with a view to taking the necessary measures, particularly during the month of Ramadan, aimed at protecting the health of citizens by taking into account the economic situation of the country, indicates the press release issued at the end of the Council meeting.

The government will announce these measures at the appropriate time.
