Le Matin – Animal feed: Manufacturers warn of the continuous rise in commodity prices

The Association of Compound Feed Manufacturers (AFAC) warns of the continued rise in prices of all feed industry inputs on international markets. The materials concerned, which alone represent 80% of the formulas for livestock and poultry feed, are corn and soybean meal.

Concretely, since November 2020 and at the end of last March, the sharp rise in the price of corn has varied within a range of 35 to 40%, that of soybean meal prices from 15 to 32%.

“These increases necessarily have significant repercussions on the cost of manufacturing compound feed in Morocco and therefore on the production cost of the entire animal sector. A situation that will persist as long as the soaring prices of raw materials for imports. continues to grow, “said AFAC.

The Association calls on the government to support the animal feed industry through “any form of aid capable of reducing the impact of increases in raw materials internationally”.
