A peak at the end of April in intensive care?
The number of people in intensive care exceeded the peak of the second wave of the epidemic at the end of March (a little over 4,900 patients in mid-November), approaching that of the first wave (a little over 7,000 patients at the start April 2020). This indicator is closely monitored by the health authorities, who fear hospital congestion, in the middle of the third wave of the novel coronavirus epidemic.
The Minister of Health Olivier Véran acknowledged Monday that the country could approach the end of April the peak of resuscitation reached during the first wave, before declining, until the new restrictions came into force this weekend (closure of schools, travel bans …) are effective.
433 new deaths
The total number of people in hospital is also on the rise, with 30,904 coronavirus positive patients currently hospitalized in France, 265 more than the day before. And 3,131 new hospitalizations have been recorded since Tuesday. In 24 hours, 433 new deaths were recorded in hospitals, for a total of more than 97,722 people since the start of the epidemic (including 71,629 in hospitals).
The number of cases was not published Wednesday, because about 400,000 test results (positive or negative results) could not be integrated into the database of SpF, specifies the health agency. On the vaccination front, nearly 3.4 million people are vaccinated (two doses), while 6.4 million have only received a first dose.
