For the canton of Neuchâtel, the looming economic recovery should benefit job seekers. He announced this Thursday an aid, estimated at around 5 million francs, to promote local recruitment. This assistance will take the form of a subsidy of 2,000 to 6,000 francs granted to any employer for each recruitment of a person seeking employment.

This measure should make it possible to “find as quickly as possible the positive dynamics that prevailed in the canton before the Covid-19 crisis”, indicates the Council of State in a press release. He thus wants “to prevent the unemployment rate from remaining at a high level, as was the case 10 years ago following the subprime crisis”.

Pursue the momentum of solidarity

Noting an increase in unemployment due to the low number of hires, the State calls for the continuation of the solidarity and responsibility which have prevailed since the start of the crisis and which has so far been able to maintain many jobs. These subsidies must give an “impetus” for the continuation and the return to employment of the unemployed.

“Along with these recruitment support tools in force until December 31, 2021, special measures to support professional internships as well as immediate replacements in the event of collective redundancies will also be extended,” notes the canton.
