The Ferrari drivers have completed the second day of testing in Andalusia
Tomorrow they will test the 18-inch tires for the last day
Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc completed 85 laps today on 18-inch tires, which will enter into force in F1 in 2022, in a test with Pirelli at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit.
This has been the second day of testing for the Ferrari drivers, and tomorrow Wednesday the three days of testing planned by Pirelli for this beginning of 2021 will end as part of the development of the tires that will be seen from 2022, and that from 2020 They are featured in Formula 2. Sainz was thus able to drive a Formula 1 Ferrari again after his Fiorano debut in the 2018 SF71-H.
With these tests, Ferrari ends its role in the development of the new 18-inch tires, since it will have used up the three days scheduled for each team. In the remainder of the year, the rest of the teams will have the same time to collaborate with Pirelli.
After this week, the next date marked on the calendar for Sainz, Leclerc and those of Maranello will be February 26. It will be then when they present the new team. A few days later, specifically on March 10, they will show their car, with which they seek to recover lost ground in 2020.
The performance of the team was diminished after the controversial secret agreement reached with the FIA regarding its 2019 engines, of which Salo has given some details.
With an engine that will have little to do with that of last season, they aspire to return to the fight against Mercedes alongside Red Bull to try to prevent Brackley’s men from reaping their eighth consecutive constructors’ title after the dominance they have shown since 2014 .
