Born in 1962, Richard is only 59 years old. He does not suffer from any pathology and yet he can be vaccinated this Thursday. If Cannes residents over 50 have been able to register to receive the vaccine, it is because here, 80% of over 70s have already been vaccinated. “We are not depriving anyone. As soon as he has priority people, they are taken immediately,” explains Dominique Aude-Lasset, coordinator of the Covid-19 vaccination centers in Cannes (Alpes-Maritimes). How to explain that elsewhere there is a lack of doses to vaccinate the priority populations and that here we can vaccinate from the age of 50? For the mayor who has decided not to follow government directives, the explanation is simple: good management of the vaccination. “We optimized the doses we received (…) We started to vaccinate early,” says the elected official. People over 50, as well as teachers and police officers of all ages, can get vaccinated. Almost 5,000 have already registered for the month of April. Everyone sees it as a chance.
