Tennis: Toni Nadal to train Auger-Aliassime – rts.ch

Toni Nadal (60) is back on the ATP Tour. Rafael’s uncle joins the management of young Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime (ATP 22) from the Monte-Carlo Masters 1000 which starts on Sunday, announces the Spanish daily Marca.

Félix Auger-Aliassime (20), whose main trainer remains the French Frédéric Fontang, is a regular at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Manacor, directed by Toni Nadal. He had stopped training his nephew in 2018, ceding this post to the former world no.1 Carlos Moya, also Mallorcan.

When I got Felix’s offer, I told him to come to the Academy for 10 days to see if I could do something for him or not. I had not considered the possibility of training another player“Toni Nadal told Marca.

Toni Nadal could witness a clash between his old and his new protégé as early as next week in Monte-Carlo. But “If we face Rafa, I will not take a seat in any of the boxes out of respect for both players. I am still director of the Academy, I still work for Rafa and I am his uncle”, explained Toni Nadal.
