Coming out of retirement this summer to sign for his training club FC Groningen, Arjen Robben (37) has finally played only 2 matches. The right-winger suffered a groin injury after his debut match against PSV Eindhoven before returning to the pitch on October 18. Hit in the calf against FC Utrecht, he has since been recovering. Important hard knocks as he has often experienced in his career. Thus, he suffered 58 injuries, often minimal of course, but still disabling during his career.
Arriving at the end of his contract at the end of the season, Arjen Robben does not know if he will be able to play again by then and will have to make the decision to extend or permanently retire. The technical director of Groningen, Mark-Jan Fledderus has only one desire, and that is for the Dutch winger to extend the adventure: “His contract is about to expire, but if he says he wants to continue for another year we will respond immediately: yes, please.”
