ESS in the lead thanks to a super Amoura

ES Sétif, wide winner on Tuesday at home against AS Aïn M’lila (4-0), temporarily seized the lead in the Ligue 1 football standings, while MC Algiers managed to put end to eight games without a win by dominating ASO Chlef (2-0), on the occasion of the update of the competition.

The Entente did not miss the opportunity to take control, easily dominating ASAM, thanks in particular to its young striker Mohamed Amine Amoura, author of a double and at the origin of the opening of the score in causing a penalty.

The native of Jijel reaches the bar of 9 goals and returns to a goal of the current best goleador of JS Saoura Billel Messaoudi who has 10 goals.

With two games to go, ESS now has three points ahead of its direct pursuers JS Saoura and MC Oran. For its part, ASAM is treading water and continues a third game in a row without a win.

MC Alger has finally returned to victory, beating ASO Chlef (2-0) at the 5th July stadium (2-0), thanks to two goals signed by Frioui (3rd) and Belkhir (29th) from the penalty spot. The latter is considered to be the fittest man on the “Dean” side, a few days after his double scored in the derby against USM Algiers (2-2).

A success that puts an end to more than two months of scarcity for the “Dean” in the league, since Mouloudia’s last victory in Ligue 1 dated back to January 16 on a trip against ES Sétif (1-0).

The players of coach Abdelkader Amrani will now be able to calmly prepare for the reception of the Egyptians of Zamalek on Saturday (8 p.m.), on behalf of the 5th day (Gr.D) of the Champions League. A small point will suffice for the Algerians to stamp their ticket for the quarter-finals.

On the other hand, this is the second defeat in a row for the Chélifiens, after that conceded last Wednesday at home against CR Belouizdad (3-1).

Finally, JS Kabylie, thanks to a goal from Malik Raiah (18th), redeemed itself by winning with difficulty in Tizi-Ouzou against RC Relizane (1-0), which remained on two consecutive missteps, conceded at home against Paradou AC (1-1) and CS Constantine (0-1).

The Professional Football League (LFP) will still have to schedule ten more update matches, between now and the start of the return phase of the championship.
