Even if the time is right, the Segway-Ninebot Apex H2 is no joke. More than ten years after its beginnings in electric mobility with the revolutionary Segway, the Segway firm is talking about it again for a project that is once again out of the ordinary: an electric motorcycle running on hydrogen.
Presented as a concept more than a year ago, the Ninebot Apex already materialized the research of Segway (which has become Ninebot since the acquisition by Xiaomi) in the field of electric mobility. We finally discover today a sporty roadster that has nothing to do with the expected sport.
The Apex H2 would, if the project materialize, be the first hydrogen motorcycle on the market. Its lithium battery, associated with a fuel cell, would be recharged in record time, thus removing one of the main constraints of today’s electric motorcycle. The Chinese manufacturer also considers his motorcycle capable of reaching a maximum speed of 150 km / h, and of bringing down the 0 to 100 km / h in just 4 seconds thanks to its engine of 60 kW (approximately 80 horses). Another curiosity, the cycle part of the bike where we find an Omega frame with single-arm front suspension and also a rear oscillating single-arm.
Still presented as a concept, the first hydrogen motorcycle could materialize very quickly since Segway-Ninebot is already announcing a possible launch on the market from 2023, and at a staggering price of only 69,999 Yuan, or around € 9,000. Enough to arouse impatience and curiosity for this ambitious project.
