After a short truce, the war between Call of Duty and Battlefield, the two behemoths of the FPS, could well resume in 2021. We already know that a Battlefield 6 is in preparation. This new opus should land on PS5, Xbox Series X and PC at the end of 2021, and would abandon World War II in favor of a modern fictional conflict, like what Battlefield 3 and 4 offered.
Conversely, the first rumors concerning the Call Of Duty 2021 precisely evoke a return in 39-45. This opus would be developed by Sledgehammer Games, studio responsible for Call Of Duty : WWII. Here again, the release would be set at the end of 2021. But for the moment, nothing is certain for these two games.
Anyway, one detail could well work in favor of Battlefield 6. In the last XboxEra podcast, Shpeshal Ed (founder of the site) dropped some important information about the next FPS from studio Dice. According to his information, “a certain AAA first person shooter ” would be “very likely to launch on GamePass this fall ”. You will understand, there is a good chance that this mystery title is indeed BattleField 6.

An exit on the Game Pass that seems logical
The arrival of BF6 on the Game Pass from the day of its release seems logical, especially since EA Play is available on Microsoft’s gaming service. Indeed, since mid-March 2021, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can enjoy EA’s subscription game service at no extra cost, which houses all of the US publisher’s flagship licenses, such as les Sims, Dead Space, Mass Effect, FIFA, NHL or Battlefield of course.
With simultaneous release on the Game Pass and in stores, Battlefield 6 would secure a substantial player base upon release and the idea of being able to play the title without having to pay full price for it could well push fans of Call of Duty to turn to its main competitor. Hopefully we’ll have more information on the title during E3 2021, which will be held exclusively online from June 15-17, 2021.
