The PlayStation 5 exclusives still aren’t crowded at the gate, so every announcement is a small event in itself. This week, Blue Box Game Studios has just unveiled Abandoned, a cinematic and horrific game in the first person, in open world and with realistic survival mechanics. Here’s an enigmatic first trailer:
Abandoned will follow Jason Longfield, who wakes up with amnesia in a forest. He discovers that he has been forcibly taken there and therefore looks for a way to escape. The gameplay wants to be realistic, the developers take as an example the less precise shots if the hero is out of breath after running, so it will take patience and a little tactics. The game, however, is not a shooter, the goal will be rather to hide and think carefully before shooting, each error can be fatal.
Abandoned will also make maximum use of the features of the PlayStation 5, but also of its controller. With the DualSense, it will be possible to better feel the interactions, like the damage, the activation of the trigger of the weapon or its reloading. 3D audio will also be exploited, and developers are already touting the power of the PS5, which will run the game at 60 fps in 4K. And given the first images, the title is already rich in detail, the studio also promises smooth animations and minimal loading times.
Abandoned is therefore for the moment very mysterious, and some players have directly compared the game to Kojima Productions, which is working on a horrific game to be announced very soon. So, is this another trick of Hideo Kojima to surprise fans? well non, Blue Box Game Studios has defended on its official website to have no connection with the Japanese designer :
Our response to rumors about Hideo Kojima:
We have received several emails regarding the Hideo Kojima rumor. We have no association with Hideo Kojima, we do not claim to have any association, and we do not intend to claim any such statement. We are a small group of developers working on an exciting title, which we have wanted to work on for a long time. We have helped other studios in the past with their projects and wanted to work on our very first big project. While it’s true that we’ve worked on small projects in the past, we certainly haven’t used it for marketing purposes. We hope this clarified this question and hope to see you all in our very first gameplay reveal for Abandoned.

The message is clear, the studio has nothing to do with Hideo Kojima, the Japanese was also working on a game exclusive to the consoles of Microsoft according to some hallway noise. Anyway, Blue Box Game Studios give us an appointment soon to discover gameplay d’Abandoned. The game is expected during the fourth quarter of 2021, or at the end of the year, exclusively on PS5.
