the Visual Works and Image Arts subsidiaries have merged

Visual Works and Image Arts combine their workforce to become Square Enix Image Studio Division.

Japanese publisher Square Enix, under the leadership of President Yosuke Matsuda following the new fiscal year, announces the creation of a new division dedicated to the research of visual renderings in real time by integrating Visual Works and Image Arts : “The Visual Works division has created pre-rendered movies for many of the company’s games. The Image Arts division, whose main staff includes members of the team that created the film Kingsglaive Final Fantasy XV, has meanwhile engaged in the research and development of high-end visual expression by focusing on emphasis on real-time graphics. By merging the technologies and attributes of the two divisions into the Square Enix Image Studio division, the company aims to accelerate its research and development efforts in the field of next-generation visual expression and to incorporate the results of these efforts in the actual content. In doing so, she hopes to provide her customers with an even higher quality experience.

Takeshi Nozue is appointed responsible for Square Enix Image Studio Division.
