The little boy, originally from Nicaragua, says he was abandoned by the group he crossed the border with. His parents were not with him for the trip. “I came because otherwise I don’t know where to go” , he says, in tears, to the border guard who asks him questions.
No less than 19,000 minors are now in centers in the United States, received while waiting to be reunited with their families on American soil or in their country of origin.
