Relatives of the Franco-Moroccan suspected of preparing an attack released

Suspected of having considered committing a terrorist action in a church, a young woman of 18 from Morocco and acquired by “Daesh” was kept in police custody at the Directorate General of Internal Security (DGSI) in Levallois-Perret . Her mother and her two sisters, arrested with her in Béziers, were released on Wednesday, according to legal sources cited by France 3. Another minor sister was released on Monday evening.

Family members are not being prosecuted at this stage, but the main suspect is still being heard. Last Thursday, the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance of Morocco (DGST) alerted the French authorities, communicating information about the young woman.

This arrest was accompanied by a search of the parental home, near a church, allowing the seizure of “several suspicious materials, including a saber, homemade explosive devices made from taped bottles and marbles”.

The French anti-terrorism prosecution has opened an investigation for “terrorist criminal association” and “possession and manufacture of explosives in connection with a terrorist enterprise”, according to AFP. The investigation will make it possible to determine more precisely the nature of the suspect’s plans.
