The video made the buzz on social networks: a monitor lizard breaks into a store in Thailand and climbs onto the shelves to try to grab food.
Shoppers must have been terrified when they saw a 1.8-meter lizard walk into a store and climb the shelves in search of food in Thailand. According to passers-by, the monitor came out of the nearby canal to then slip into this 7-Eleven in the city of Nakhon Pathom.
A witness filmed the scene which made the rounds on social networks. Questioned by the Sun, he declares that he did not dare to approach the lizard which according to him can be dangerous if he gets angry. “I stopped at the store to buy some food and saw the huge lizard inside. I wanted to buy a drink but the animal was too close to the drink aisle. ”
As staff and customers hid behind the counter, the lizard climbed the shelves and threw several boxes on the floor in its path. A saleswoman took the opportunity to call the police who arrived with professionals prepared for this kind of situation
These Asian monitor lizards live in the canals and ponds of major cities in Thailand, where they feed on fish, snakes, frogs, and human leftover food scraps. After months of dry weather and little rain, the creature reportedly struggled to find food outside. They can be aggressive when they feel threatened.
