Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit hailed recent statements by US President Joe Biden in favor of a two-state solution to settle the Israeli-Palestinian issue.

Aboul Gheit said in a statement that the announcement by the US Secretary of State to resume economic, development and humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, including those intended for UNRWA, is a positive step. which reflects the good intentions of the new US administration.

The Secretary General of the Arab League stressed the importance of acting urgently to launch a serious peace process, with a clear reference and a well-defined timetable in order to reach a just, comprehensive and final solution to the Palestinian question.

The United States of America announced on Wednesday the resumption of aid to the Palestinians, suspended since 2018, providing $ 150 million to UNRWA, $ 75 million in economic development assistance to the West Bank and to the Gaza Strip, and $ 10 million for peacebuilding efforts.
